PADSTOW CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL 3RD TO 6TH DECEMBER 2015
This year sees the Padstow Christmas Festival in its 8th year, with more than 100 stalls, 40 star chefs and an estimated 45,000 visitors; Padstow certainly knows how to host an event!
Demonstrations will be taking place all weekend in Sharp’s Chefs Theatre and the Festival Kitchen. More than 40 of the biggest named chefs in the country will be taking part in the weekend demonstrations. The chefs have produced a new cookbook again this year, and will be on sale for £9.95 from selected locations around Padstow and at the Festival. (Also available by post from Padstow Tourist Information Centre).
The Christmas Market showcases high quality food and drinks that Cornwall and the South West has to offer. From cheese to hotpots, sausages to pasties – something for everyone.
If you’ve worked up a thirst after tasting all the delicious food on offer, sample some of the local ales, gins, ciders, liqueurs or have a proper cup of tea!
Pop up food stalls will also be in attendance including Wild Bake pizzas, a regular pop up takeaway at Padstow Touring Park during the summer.
But it’s not all about food. Arts and crafts producers galore will be selling their wares – perfect little gifts for Christmas.
There will be music throughout the festival on the Bandstand.
On Friday 4th December at 6pm the streets will be lit up with the winter lantern parade, heralding the arrival of Father Christmas on a horse drawn Victorian bus. The sound of Carols will fill the air and to end the day in spectacular fashion, a stunning firework display with light up the skies above the harbour.
Saturday 5th December sees the Santa Run and Cycle ride for Cornwall Hospice Care, this year with a little twist! This year, entrants can choose which team they wish to represent – Team Santa or Team Rudolph (costumes included in the registration fee). Cycle riders will set off from Wadebridge at 10am arriving in plenty of time for the fun run in Padstow at 1pm.
The weekend of festivities will end in true festive fashion with a Carol Service at St Petrocs Church at 6pm on Sunday 6th December.
